To Warn The West

1h 30min   |   Russian   |  English Director Dmitry ZHUKOVSKY

The Film explores the dramatic beginnings of the Cold War through the story of Igor Gouzenko, a Soviet intelligence officer whose defection changed history. As a cryptographer at the Soviet Embassy in Ottawa, Gouzenko exposed an extensive Soviet spy network in the West. His 1945 defection, with a trove of classified documents, became a catalyst for the Cold War and reshaped global perceptions of Soviet ambitions. Featuring rare archival material and insights from his daughter, this documentary revisits a pivotal moment in history. A screening followed by a discussion with Gouzenko’s daughter and the filmmakers offers a unique opportunity to reflect on his lasting legacy.
